Aurora murder victim identified as suspect’s mother
The victim of a fatal shooting in Aurora has been identified as 70-year-old Deborah Ann Avery, the Arapahoe County Coroner’s Office announced Monday.
Deborah is the mother of Ryan Scott Avery, who police said is a person of interest believed to be involved in the shooting.
Police said Deborah was shot some time Saturday inside a home at 1620 S. Granby St., in the Willow Park neighborhood. She was not discovered until Sunday morning.
Ryan, 39, is being investigated as a suspect in the shooting. According to public records, Avery’s last known address is the home where the death took place.
Police said Avery is already wanted on a national warrant for an attempted homicide also committed on Saturday in Elizabeth.
Police have not released any additional details about the homicide.
Avery is 5-foot-11 and 155 pounds with brown hair and brown eyes. He is believed to be in a silver, four-door 2008 Lexus IS with the Colorado license plate BIX-360. Avery might have been in Limon on Saturday night.
Police said Avery should be considered armed and dangerous. Anyone who sees him is advised not to approach and to call 911 immediately.
