Roads around Colorado Convention Center to close for Play Ball Park
Multiweek closures of roads around the Colorado Convention Center will begin this week as officials prepare for Play Ball Park, the Denver Department of Transportation and Infrastructure announced.
Starting Wednesday at 6 p.m., 14th Street will be closed from Stout Street to Welton Street, and Welton Street will be closed from 12th Street to 14th Street.
These roads will be fully closed to all vehicle and bike traffic through July 16.
In addition, the following roads will be open for local access only: California Street between 14th Street and 15th Street, Welton Street between 14th Street and 15th Street, and 14th Street between Welton Street and Glenarm Place.
During these closures, officials will work to set up Play Ball Park, a free indoor and outdoor event at the Colorado Convention Center in celebration of the Major League Baseball All-Star Game being held at Coors Field.
The event is part of MLB’s All-Star Week in Denver that will take place from July 9 to July 13.
The event will include meet-and-greet opportunities with baseball players, free autographs, daily giveaways, baseball training drills and more. Tickets are free and are available at allstargame.com.
The MLB All-Star Game will be hosted by the Colorado Rockies on July 13. It will be the second time the All-Star Game will be held at Coors Field, with the other time coming in 1998.
