Peña Boulevard reopened after being closed for several hours because of a tanker truck crashing on the road Thursday morning, delaying traffic headed to Denver International Airport.
The crash happened before 9 a.m. near Tower Road. The airport announced the road had reopened at noon after it was fully closed and opened one lane at 9:30 a.m.
The truck crashed into a parked car that was waiting to be towed, the Denver Police Department said. The truck then rolled onto its side and caught fire.
One person was injured and was taken to a hospital in unknown condition, police said.

The Denver Fire Department responded to the scene to contain gasoline leaking from the truck, officials said.
Though all lanes of Peña Boulevard are open, the shoulder remained closed indefinitely for accident cleanup, the airport said.

The airport urged travelers to plan for extra time to get to the airport and to avoid using Peña Boulevard if possible. Detours include taking Interstate 70 to E-470 to Peña Boulevard or using RTD’s A Line train.
