Maine group to host forum on how to encourage COVID-19 vaccinations
A Maine organization will host a COVID-19 event on Thursday, at which participants will discuss how to encourage the unvaccinated to get the shot.
Maine Community Action Partnership, an organization dedicated to improving the lives of Maine residents, will host the hourlong event, “Encouraging Vaccinations: How to talk to your family and neighbors,” on Thursday at 6 p.m. on Zoom.

The Maine Center for Disease Control and Prevention posted the event on its Twitter page, encouraging followers to register for the event.
“Most Mainers are vaccinated against COVID-19, but some people still have an unvaccinated family member or neighbor,” Maine CDC tweeted.
Among the participants listed on the event page is Todd Phillips, an infection preventionist at Millinocket Regional Hospital, where Maine Public reports 98% of the staff have been vaccinated.
“Doing the work, to begin with, is what really made us successful,” Phillips told the outlet. “And so, to try to double back in those efforts to make them work, now, people … dug their heels in, they already have their belief systems, and now they have as much alternative facts to support it.”
Other speakers at the event include Elisabeth Marnik, a professor of molecular biochemistry at Husson University, and Dr. Gavin Ducker, co-president of the system medical group at Northern Light Health.
