One person died after a recreational vehicle ignited in an alleyway on Saturday morning near City Park.

The fire occurred around 7:15 a.m. in the 2700 block of Vine Street in the city’s Whittier neighborhood and was less than a half mile from City Park. 

Denver fire said one person was recovered from the RV and that the blaze caused partial damage a nearby exterior garage. 

It is currently unknown whether the person was living in the RV or working on it at the time the fire ignited, said Greg Pixley, a spokesman with the fire department. 

The Denver Police Department is investigating the death.
