15-year-old Raphael Velin was killed in the September shooting at 6100 Main Street
Aurora police have arrested a second suspect in the Southlands Mall shooting that left a 15-year-old dead in September.
Officers arrested a 17-year-old boy on charges of second-degree murder and aggravated robbery on Wednesday, according to a press release from the Aurora Police Department.
Police believe the suspect is connected to the shooting that occurred at 6100 Main Street. Police did not identify him because he is a minor.
Fifteen-year-old Raphael Velin was shot in the mall parking lot on Sept. 30 around 8:30 p.m. and later died from his injuries. Following initial investigations, Aurora Police Chief Art Acevedo said authorities believe there were five suspects and multiple shooters involved in the incident, all juveniles.
Investigators are still attempting to identify suspects and witnesses, authorities said.
The first suspect — a 16-year-old boy — surrendered to the police on Oct. 10, authorities said.
Police urged anyone with additional information about the shooting to contact Metro Denver Crime Stoppers at 720-913-7867.
