Colorado’s favorite ‘Thanksgiving side dish’ is a bit boring
Looking to be the most popular person at Thanksgiving dinner this year? Campbell’s has released their ‘State of the Sides’ report, highlighting which side dishes are the most popular in each state around the country.
According to Campbell’s, consumer data showed that 67 percent of Americans prefer the side dishes compared to main entrees when it comes to Thanksgiving dinner, with 54 percent of the country noting that they’d be content with only eating sides.
Nationwide, the majority of states picked mashed potatoes as their favorite sides, with stuffing and mac n’ cheese being two other dishes determined to be top picks in multiple states. Oddly enough, in Colorado, none of those dishes were determined to be the ‘most popular’ side dish option.
In Colorado, the favorite side dish was determined to be bread – plain and simple, with the Centennial State being the only place nationwide where this was exclusively the top pick. Floridians also picked bread as a favorite dish, but this was selected as part of a two-way tie with ‘root vegetable dishes’ – generally a roasted mix of yams, carrots, parsnip, and potatoes, and a favorite side dish in seven states.
Are Coloradans really that into bread? Maybe it has something to do with how carbs are known for fueling outdoor recreation adventures. Who knows?
Either way, it sounds like bringing a great bread option is the way to ensure your side dish is a hit at a Colorado Thanksgiving dinner.
