1 stabbing, 1 shooting in Denver Thursday
1 dead, 3 injured following Thursday incidents
Denver police continue to investigate a stabbing and a shooting in the city over the last day. The unrelated incidents led to one death and two other injuries.
Officers began investigating a shooting in the 700 block of South Kearney Street around 9 p.m. Wednesday evening, according to a news release by the Denver Police Department. One man was injured during the incident.
In a subsequent release, the department announced that they had arrested a suspect in the shooting, 61-year-old Nancy Ryan. She was arrested on charges of first-degree assault following the incident.
Preliminary investigations showed that Ryan knew the victim. The two appeared to be having an argument before the shooting, according to the department.
The victim was shot and taken to a nearby hospital after police responded. He is expected to survive his injuries.
Denver officers also responded to a stabbing in the area of Park Avenue and Lawrence Street around 11 a.m. Thursday. Two people were transported to a nearby hospital with injuries.
One of the victims — a man — was pronounced deceased at the hospital, according to the department. The police continue to investigate the incident.
