DOTI warns Broncos commuters of potential delays on Sunday
Denver will be working in the area of Empower Field on gameday
Those heading to see the Broncos game against the Cleveland Browns on Sunday can expect a long drive — and not the kind Sean Peyton and Russell Wilson attempt to draw up.
Denver’s Department of Transportation and Infrastructure have advised game-goers of potentially longer commutes on Sunday because of road construction on Federal Boulevard, just a few blocks north of Empower Field.
The city will be making “pedestrian safety improvements” on Sunday, according to a press release from DOTI. During the construction, there will be one-lane travel both northbound and southbound on Federal Boulevard between West 23rd and West 26th.
“Given this work in the area, DOTI is encouraging game-goers to allow for extra time and to consider alternate forms of transportation and alternate routes, including approaching the stadium from the south,” the department said.
The department also reminds fans that there’s a residential parking program near the stadium, requiring a permit to park on some nearby streets. People are encouraged to read road signs and avoid parking on permitted areas. Those parked in permitted areas without authorization will be subject to a citation or tow.
