Colorado Christian University to hold pro-Israel vigil
Colorado Christian University said it is bringing together Jewish and Christian leaders for a pro-Israel vigil on Dec. 5.
Following a dinner, attendees will join a prayer vigil for peace and unity at the campus’ Anschutz Student Center, the university said.
“At CCU, we firmly stand in support of Israel against the recent attacks by Hamas,” Colorado Christian University President Eric Hogue said in a statement.
Organizers also intend to raise funds to benefit United Hatzalah, a volunteer-based emergency medical services organization in Israel.
“We condemn the acts of violence and aggression, and we are committed to raising awareness and providing direct support to our Jewish brothers and sisters facing such challenges,” Hogue said. “We are also committed to combating the growing antisemitism on college campuses across America.”
Hogue is among 100 college and university presidents across America who have signed a statement expressing support for Israel and arguing that the Israel-Hamas war requires “more clarity” from higher education institutions.
John Marshall of Colorado Mesa University also signed the declaration.
Officials from other universities in Colorado have walked a tightrope following the Oct. 7 attack on Israel that ignited the war, expressing horror at the violence, while noting the heavy losses on both sides.
