Christmas closures around metro Denver

Union Station holiday lights

Christmas leads to countless closures across the city, especially when it falls on a weekday. This year’s holiday occurs on Monday, causing closures of businesses, government offices and city agencies.

Most agencies and buildings will be closed on Monday in observance of Christmas, a federal holiday. Mail services will also be postponed during the holiday. Most businesses and restaurants will also close on Monday — though some may operate with altered schedules. People should check specific business websites before traveling to them.

All 24-hour agencies — like emergency services and the Denver International Airport — will remain fully operational on Monday.

Government and city buildings in Denver, Adams, Jefferson and Douglas counties will be closed on Monday and re-open on Tuesday. Denver libraries will also be closed.

Arapahoe County buildings will be closed Monday and Tuesday, Dec. 26, for Christmas observed, according to the county’s website.

Boulder city offices will close at 12 p.m. on Friday and remain closed until Tuesday morning. City parking will become free at 12 p.m., also, lasting until Tuesday morning.

Street parking throughout the city of Denver will also be free on Monday for the holiday. It will return to normal prices on Tuesday. Denver public transportation via the Regional Transportation District will also be operating on its holiday schedule.

All state parks, county parks, campgrounds and boat ramps will remain open through the holiday. Boulder Reservoir will be closed on Monday, though.

As noted, be sure to check county websites or businesses for specific closure information.
