Jefferson County’s Child Sex Offender Internet Investigations Unit (CHEEZO) arrested a man following a report from two underage teens that he allegedly paid them for sexual acts.

The CHEEZO unit received two reports from a 16-year-old girl and 15-year-old girl that they had met with a 25-year-old man for prostitution, according to a social media post from the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office. Preliminary investigations found that the man had potentially contacted over a dozen underage girls online through his social media accounts, attempting to solicit sexual acts.

Deputies arrested the man on charges of soliciting for child prostitution, patronizing a prostituted child, sexual exploitation of a child and contributing to the delinquency of a minor, according to the post.

“Please stop. I have a life,” the suspect said in the posted video showing his arrest. “I don’t know what’s going on.”

The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office declined providing the suspect’s information and booking photo, stating that the suspect is part of further investigations by the department.

“Parents, keep in mind … good kids can make mistakes,” the department said in the post. “In today’s world of technology, those mistakes can have a life-long impact. Talk to your children and teens regularly about their technology and social media use. Let them know to only communicate online with people who they already know face to face — not people they meet online.”

The CHEEZO was established by the sheriff’s office in 2005. Since its inception, it has led to the arrest of 920 arrests regarding child sex offenses.

CHEEZO often uses investigators that act as teenagers online to lure out adults attempting to solicit sexual acts with minors.
