Denver 7 welcomes former 9News meteorologist Danielle Grant back to the airwaves

After more than four months off the air, television Meteorologist Danielle Grant has found a new landing spot, she announced via social media.

Grant, formerly with 9NEWS, will be joining the weather team at Denver 7.

“I’ve absolutely loved this unexpected time off but it’s time for mama to get back to work!” Grant shared in an Instagram post. “It’s been an empowering and serendipitous journey into this next chapter. And I’ve truly been overwhelmed by your love (and) kind messages. They’ve kept me going!”

Grant previously spent a decade predicting weather at 9NEWS, before announcing her departure last October.

According to an announcement from Denver 7, her first day on air at the station will be April 1.

At Denver 7, Grant will have an opportunity to be mentored by longtime Meteorologist and pioneer in the field Mike Nelson, who recently announced his retirement and will be leaving the station this December.

“I have been a big fan of her work (and) work ethic for over a decade & I know she will be a great addition to our team!” Nelson said in a post on social media platform X.

Prior to her stops at Denver 7 and 9News, Grant studied meteorology at Mississippi State University and her career included stops at KBMT-TV (Beaumont, Texas) and KPNX-TV (Phoenix, Ariz.).

“Danielle’s experience and genuine joy of tracking and reporting on Colorado’s ever-changing weather is a natural fit with our expert team of meteorologists at Denver7,” Brian Joyce, vice president and general manager at Denver7, said in the announcement.

Away from the television spotlight, Grant devotes time to philanthropy with her involvement with The Anchor Center for Blind Children, a non-profit organization providing early education and support for visually impaired children.

In recognition of her volunteer efforts, Grant was honored with the Virginia Deal Williams Volunteer Award by the center in 2022.
