Colorado ski resort set to host ‘Slush Cup’ pond-skimming event to close out season

Keystone Ski Resort is closing out the ski season with its annual Springtastic Closing Weekend Celebration, including the Slush Cup.

The Slush Cup is the only kid-sized pond skim in the country. The event will be held on April 7. Participants of all ages are welcome to “sink or swim in style,” and have the chance to win a variety of prizes from the resort’s partners, including Helly Hansen, Oakley, and GoPro.

Helmets are required and costumes are encouraged. Participants can register for the Slush Cup and the weekend’s other activities on the event details page.

Those participating in the pond skim on skis should heed the following advice – be ready for an immediate slow-down once you hit the water. You’ll want to be sitting back in your skis with both skis pointed as straight as possible. Beware of slush that can accumulate in the area where the transition from snow to water is made.
