2 rollover crashes reported following freezing fog in Colorado Springs
Multiple vehicles rolled off the road Saturday morning following a sudden change in weather producing freezing fog, according to the Colorado Springs Police Department.
Police said at 8:48 a.m. Saturday morning, officers received reports of a serious rollover crash near Powers and Union boulevards.
The Colorado Springs Fire Department arrived on the scene and found a pickup truck had rolled down hill to the southbound ramp along Powers Boulevard, police said.
Investigators determined that the truck had been traveling southbound on Powers Boulevard when it left the road and rolled west down a hill, where it came to rest near the on ramp.
Officials said while CSFD personnel tended to the crashed truck, a second vehicle left the road while traveling southbound and rolled partially down the same hill.
One driver was taken to a hospital to be treated for injuries. The second driver was treated on the scene and released shortly after, officials said.
According to police, both crashes appeared to be a result of sudden freezing fog. Drugs and alcohol do not appear to be factors for either crash.
