Alamosa took first place as the small town with the best cultural scene. The small town is located in the San Luis Valley, and according to USA Today “offers a unique perspective on the Centennial State that’s far removed from its classic Rocky Mountain Landscapes.”
Alamosa provides access to some stunning Colorado scenery as well as plenty of culture. The San Luis Valley Museum portrays early ranch and farm life, featuring artifacts, photographs, antiques, and collectibles. The town’s arts and culture are also reflected through the Stations of the Cross Shrine, a series of bronze sculptures about a 45-minute drive from Alamosa. The Creede Repertory Theatre is an award-winning theater company that produces contemporary and classic plays.
The Great Sand Dunes National Park and Preserve is about 30 minutes away from Alamosa, home to some of the tallest dunes in North America. Alamosa also has many festivals and events throughout the summer season.
