Dump your stuff: Commerce City hosts free landfill day

Got some big old bulky stuff to get rid of?

Then Commerce City’s second Free Landfill Day of 2024 is just the ticket.

Residents are invited to bring oversized items and/or large quantities of garbage that won’t fit in regular curbside trash cans to the Republic Services Tower Landfill, 19260 E. 88th Ave., 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, June 1.

With proof of Commerce City residency, such as a driver’s license/tax statement, each household may bring one load to the landfill for free.

According to the City, cars, vans, SUVs, and the first 5 cubic yards of material for pickup trucks and trailers may drop off for free.

Loads exceeding 5 cubic yards are subject to the gate rate plus applicable taxes and fees.

All loads must be covered and residents must wear a reflective safety vest while unloading.

For those dropping off appliances with refrigerants, each item must have certification of chlorofluorocarbon (CFC) removal.

Mattresses and box springs are subject to a fee of $30 each.

Electronics, tires, car batteries, and hazardous materials/liquids are not accepted. These items may be discarded during other events for special hazardous waste disposal.

For more information about upcoming events, visit c3gov.com/Trash or call 303-371-5115.
