Sheridan man arrested in connection to fatal domestic violence shooting

Sheridan police arrested a man in connection to a fatal shooting deemed a domestic violence incident by the department.
Roy Jones, 53, was arrested on suspicion of first-degree murder in connection to the fatal shooting that occurred at a residence around 5 a.m. Thursday in the 3400 block of West Dill Road, according to a social media post from the Sheridan Police Department.
Police responded to the area Thursday morning and found a woman deceased with an “apparent” gunshot wound, the department said.
The victim was later identified as 52-year-old Angela Theresa Cordova by the Arapahoe County Coroner’s Office. Her death was classified as a homicide.
The coroner’s office also noted that she lived in the residence in which police found her.
Jones is currently being evaluated at an undisclosed hospital and has not been officially booked into the Arapahoe County Jail yet, a spokesperson with the Sheridan Police Department said.
The arrest records regarding the incident are not being released to the public during the investigation, according to the 18th Judicial District Court.
