A man has been arrested in connection to a woman who was allegedly shot and killed in a car on Saturday night, Westminster police said.

The shooting happened near 12000 Colorado Boulevard, according to a Westminster Police Department news release.

Around 8 p.m. on Saturday, police received a possible “physical domestic violence” call to the area of 12000 Melody Drive, police said.

When police arrived, the caller provided officers with a description of the suspect’s vehicle, who had fled the scene, according to police.

Westminster police said that a little while later, Thornton police received a call from the 12000 Colorado Boulevard area reporting a woman shot in a car that matched the vehicle’s description.

When officers arrived, they couldn’t find the vehicle, but later learned from an area hospital about a female gunshot victim, who later died of her injuries, police said.

Police identified and arrested Jesse Gladney, 37, who is booked in the Adams County Detention Facility on suspicion of first-degree murder.

The victim’s identity and cause of death awaits Adams County Coroner’s Office investigation.
