2 dead in shooting at Lake Pueblo State Park
A shooting overnight at Lake Pueblo State Park was under investigation Friday, according to Colorado Parks and Wildlife.
Officials said through a social media announcement at 2:49 a.m., that an investigation is underway at the Sailboard Beach area, on the north shore of the lake, not far from the dam of the state park.
CPW said the shooting occurred as a group of people were fishing from shore. Park Manager Joe Stadterman said the initial call for help came in at 12:45 a.m.
According to a CPW announcement at 7:45 a.m., two people have been pronounced dead and have been taken by the Pueblo County coroner. The coroner is working to positively identify both individuals and notify their relatives.
While officials said there is no believed threat to guests in the park Friday, a suspect is not in custody at this time.
The park remains open today, aside from Sailboard Beach and the surrounding waters due to the ongoing investigation.
