Denver is forecast for dryer conditions and temperatures reaching into the 90s Wednesday as heat advisories are in effect in nearly all locations of six western states, according to the National Weather Service in Boulder.
Expect sunny skies today and a high of 91 degrees. A calm wind from the northeast will roll through the area between 5 and 9 mph. Wind gusts may reach upwards of 15 mph.
“Scattered showers and a few thunderstorms will develop over the mountains this afternoon,” the NWS said. “Most of the showers will only produce light rainfall.”
Looking ahead to Wednesday night, mostly clear skies are in the forecast and a low of 62 degrees.
Temperatures are expected to increase throughout the week with highs reaching 100 degrees Friday and into the weekend.
“Isolated thunderstorms and showers are possible across the high country each afternoon through Friday, with storms potentially producing lightning and gusty winds” the NWS said.
“A near record breaking heat wave is expected across the region Friday through this weekend and into Monday. High temperatures will likely reach the 98 to 105 degree mark across the urban corridor and plains.”
