Denver pedestrian dies after overnight crash near Union Station

A Denver pedestrian died in the hospital Friday after an overnight crash in the Union Station neighborhood.

Police responded to reports of a pedestrian-automobile crash in the area of 15th and Wazee streets around 12:30 a.m. Friday, according to a social media post from the Denver Police Department.

The pedestrian was taken to a nearby hospital and the driver remained at the scene to help the investigation, police said.

The department noted that the pedestrian died at a hospital around 10:30 a.m. Friday morning, according to a subsequent post. The identity of the victim will later be released by the Office of the Medical Examiner.

Initial investigations found that the pedestrian was walking across the street against the traffic signal while the motorist was turning. The motorist then struck the pedestrian, leading to their eventual death.
