Douglas County Sheriff’s Office arrest two drivers for threatening motorists with guns
In two separate cases, Douglas County Sheriff’s on Sunday caught two drivers who allegedly threatened other motorists with firearms.
One incident happened in Parker, and the other in Castle Rock.
No one was injured, according to Douglas County Sheriff Darren Weekly.
“We are thankful no one was physically injured or killed,” he said in a statement.
Shots fired on the roadways in Parker
In the statement, sheriff’s said the first incident occurred at 11:30 a.m. near Hilltop Road and Alpine Drive.
Authorities said a man, driving a Honda CRV, pulled up behind one victim, put his hand out the window and, from the victim’s perspective: “believed fired a gunshot.”
“The suspect continued to follow the victim closely, passed the victim, and held his hand out the window while firing several more gunshots into the air,” sheriff’s said.
Deputies caught Jonathan Wullstein, 29, who matched the description. In his vehicle, deputies found a small Glock handgun and three bullet casings.
Wullstein faces charges of felony menacing, prohibited use of a weapon, and reckless endangerment, according to the sheriff’s office.
Driver threatened by gunpoint ends with high-risk traffic stop in Castle Rock
Just after 4 p.m., sheriff’s said a caller was just threatened by gunpoint from the driver of a Jeep Liberty. The incident took place near Interstate 25 and Wolfensberger Road, according to sheriff’s.
The driver continued northbound to Dry Creek Road in Centennial, where deputies conducted a “high-risk traffic stop,” authorities said.
Police officer from Greenwood Village also got involved, according to sheriff’s.
At the scene, deputies arrested Anthony Archer, 39, for felony menacing, prohibited use of a weapon, driving under the influence and disorderly conduct.
Inside Archer’s vehicle, deputies found a black Taurus handgun, a loaded magazine and one bullet in the chamber.
“We will not tolerate this type of reckless and dangerous behavior on our roads,” Weekly said on both arrests. “We appreciate the assistance of our neighboring law enforcement partners who helped us catch these two individuals.”
