‘One-in-30 million’ animal found at Colorado restaurant
An extremely rare orange lobster was found by employees of the Red Lobster in Pueblo, Colorado. And while the ‘blue lobsters’ that are occasionally found often go viral online thanks to their stunning color, the orange lobster is much more rare.
The general manager of the restaurant, Kendra Kastendieck, told the Pueblo Chieftain that while blue lobsters tend to be ‘one-in-two million,’ orange lobsters are ‘one-in-30 million’ – in other words, 15 times as rare.
The stunning lobster was quickly served up to a happy customer – just kidding.
The lobster’s rare coloring ended up bringing a stroke of luck to the critter, with the orange lobster having since been transported to live out its days under the care of the Downtown Aquarium in Denver, according to the Pueblo Chieftain. It now goes by the name of ‘Crush,’ which restaurant employees settled on as a means of paying homage to the ‘Orange Crush’ Denver Broncos defense of the 1970s.
