Denver sets new record high temperature Sunday
Denver International Airport hit a high of over 100 degrees Sunday afternoon, shattering the previous record, according to the National Weather Service in Boulder.
The weather service reported that DIA reached a scorching high of 102 degrees just after 2 p.m., setting a new daily record high for Aug. 4. The previous record of 98 degrees was set in 2022, 1981 and 1979.
The city was under a heat advisory though 8 p.m., with Sunday expected to be the hottest day of the week.
Temperatures in the area are expected to decrease during the week, hitting highs reaching the mid-90s Monday through Wednesday, according to the weather service.
