First Leonardo da Vinci museum in North America might be coming to Pueblo, Colorado
The non-profit group Southern Colorado Science Center is working with the Artisans of Florence to establish the first permanent Leonardo da Vinci Museum in North America in Pueblo, Colorado.
According to the Southern Colorado Science Center, Artisans of Florence recreations of Leonardo da Vinci’s most innovative machines have been stored in a pair of “earth-covered PuebloPlex igloos” 15 miles from Pueblo.
Artisans of Florence is a touring organization partnered with the Museum of Leonardo da Vinci in Florence that reconstructs da Vinci’s creations.
The models, which include robotic drummers, flying machines, catapults, 15th-century cars, and more, have toured the country in traveling exhibitions. Pueblo community leaders, however, are now working to create a permanent Pueblo museum that includes a Da Vinci Museum of Machines and Robotics, as well as STEAMworks – an interactive science, technology, engineering, arts, and math exhibit.
The Artisans of Florence already have permanent displays in Florence, Amboise, Venice, and Sokcho, South Korea, but the museum in Pueblo will be the first in North America. The museum could open as early as spring 2025.
