Aurora man arrested on suspicion of multiple child sex crimes
Aaron Marshall Mocalkins, 27, was arrested on Sept. 24.
The Aurora Police Department arrested a 27-year-old man on suspicion of multiple crimes including sexual assault of a child and cruelty to animals.
Aaron Marshall Mocalkins was arrested by the Aurora police’s Internet Crimes Against Children Unit on Sept. 24 in response to an investigation that began in 2022.
The man was arrested on suspicion of one count of unlawful sexual contact of a child, 12 counts of sexual exploitation of a child, two counts of invasion of privacy of a child victim for sexual gratification and two counts of internet sexual exploitation of a child, all felonies, as well as three misdemeanor counts of cruelty to animals, according to a news release from the Aurora Police Department.
Internet Crimes Against Children detectives received a cyber tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children in March 2022 of a man having child sex abuse material on the social media platform, Kik.
Through investigations, police obtained a search warrant of Mocalkins’ home, but the man refused to cooperate and give police access to his devices, according to the police department.
Investigators were able to bypass passwords and found that Mocalkin was in possession of “thousands of images and videos of child sexual abuse material,” according to the press release.
Mocalkins is in custody on $100,000 bond at the Arapahoe County Detention Center and is scheduled to appear in court on Oct. 17.
