‘Suspicious body’ found near downtown Colorado Springs, police say
Colorado Springs police and the El Paso County Coroner’s Office are conducting a death investigation after the discovery of a body near downtown, according to law enforcement officials.
A passerby called police just before 6 p.m. Sunday to report a “suspicious body” between the Interstate 25 Bijou Street exit and the nearby railroad tracks, police said. Responding officers found a “deceased individual” and called the Coroner’s Office. Homicide detectives were then called in , but officials did not say whether the death was being investigated as a homicide.
Investigators continued the analyze the scene after the body was released. The deceased individual’s gender was not released.
