UPDATE: Inmate caught after escaping from Cañon City correctional facility
UPDATE: The Colorado Department of Corrections announced the recapture of Leaf A. Glimpse at approximately 6 p.m. on Oct. 14. According to the release, he was found on department property.
Authorities are searching for a man who recently escaped from the Cañon City correctional facility, according to a Monday news release from the Colorado Department of Corrections.
Leaf Glimpse, 34, had been classified as a “minimum-restrictive” inmate housed in the Arrowhead Correctional Center, which is located within the East Canon Complex, officials said. He was serving an eight-year sentence for burglary at the time of his escape.
The Cañon City Search Team and area law enforcement are searching for the escapee, and the Inspector General’s office is investigating the incident, the release stated. Department of Corrections did not say when facility personnel discovered that Glimpse was missing, or how much time he had remaining on his sentence.
Glimpse is 5-foot-4 and 185 pounds, with brown hair and blue eyes, according to the release. He was last seen wearing a white T-shirt, Department of Corrections-issued green pants and black boots with tan soles.
“If you see the inmate do not attempt to approach,” the release warned. “Call 9-1-1 to notify law enforcement.”
