Aurora police investigates deadly hit and run involving motorcycle

The hit and run incident occurred at Interstate 225 and 6th Avenue.

The Aurora Police Department is investigating a fatal hit and run crash that killed a motorcyclist near downtown Aurora.

The hit and run incident occurred around midnight at Interstate 225 and 6th Avenue, according to Aurora police.

In a news release, police said investigations indicated “a Yamaha motorcycle was speeding and possibly racing a Dodge truck.”

The truck, police said, clipped the motorcycle as they changed lanes, “causing the motorcyclist to lose control and collide with the guardrail.”

Police said the motorcyclist died on-scene, adding the truck left the scene of the crash but was later found by patrol near East 38th and Sable Blvd.

The driver of the truck was not located or identified, according to police.

The crash closed down roads in the area for more than three hours. The crash site is located near downtown Aurora.
