DOLA opens rental assistance pre-application window Oct. 28
Money is for Coloradans who have fallen behind on their rent, meet certain income limits and other qualifying factors, and are at risk of eviction.
The Colorado Department of Local Affairs will accept pre-applications for its October round of emergency rental assistance beginning at 11 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 28, and continuing through 5 p.m. on Oct. 30.
Funding is available for Coloradans who have fallen behind on their rent, meet certain income limits and other qualifying factors, and are at risk of eviction.
Those facing eviction will have priority, according to a DOLA news release.
After the three-day pre-application window closes, applicants will be entered into a randomized selection process. Those selected will receive an email invitation to complete a full application via the online portal within seven days.
To be considered for assistance, applicants must meet eligibility criteria and submit the completed application, along with all required documentation, by the specified deadline.
All eligible applicants who apply by the deadline will be considered equally in the random selection process.
Awards cannot exceed seven months of rent, or $10,000, whichever is a lesser amount, and are limited to the amount needed to stabilize the household.
Awards are not intended to provide ongoing rental support.
Applicants for the program must be Colorado residents, hold a valid lease within the state at the time of application, and must not have received a rental assistance benefit from any emergency rental assistance program within the preceding 12 months.
To submit a pre-application, visit https://doh.colorado.gov/emergency-rental-assistance.
Coloradans facing eviction should contact the CARE Center for rental assistance beyond the application window by calling or texting 303-838-1200 or 888-480-0066, Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Mountain Time. The CARE Center will provide assistance as resources permit.
