Where good news shines

The Denver Pioneers hockey program had no problem coming back from a deficit on Saturday.

The top-ranked team in the country scored six unanswered goals after falling behind 1-0 against No. 20 Wisconsin to grab a 6-1 win at Magness Arena. The win completed the weekend sweep and gave the Pioneers their sixth straight win to start the season.

Senior Jack Devine had three points on a goal and two assist, while juniors Samu Salminen and Aidan Thompson and freshman Jake Fisher all tallied goals.

Wisconsin native Connor Caponi and sophomore Sam Harris also scored for the Pioneers.

Goaltender Matt Davis made 25 saves, including stopping the final 18 shots of the game.

The Pioneers head out the road for a weekend matchup with Yale. Friday and Saturday’s games will be televised by ESPN+.
