Denver hockey extended its win streak to 17 straight dating back to last season with a 5-1 win over Yale at Ingalls Rink in New Haven, Conn., Saturday. The Pioneers haven’t lost since a 4-3 defeat to then-No. 10 Colorado College on March 8.
Saturday’s triumph was the 1,600th win for the Denver program, putting the Pios in an exclusive club with Minnesota, Michigan, Boston College, Boston University and North Dakota. Denver’s 8-0-0 start ties the team’s best start since opening the 2019-20 season with eight wins.
The Pioneers improved to 10-1-0 against Yale thanks to goals from four players and 12 players recording an assist. Roster-wide balance was key in overcoming a 1-0 deficit.

Denver next returns to Magness Arena for the program’s 75th Anniversary Weekend. The Pioneers host Lindenwood on Friday and Saturday.
