Denver weather: Gorgeous fall day Monday with temperatures nearing 60

Weather around Denver on Monday will be pleasant and warm ahead of a passing front tonight, which could bring a snow shower or two to the metro area.

Denver residents can expect sunny skies today, with a high near 57. Light and variable wind becoming west northwest 9 to 14 mph in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 22 mph.

“A weak system is expected to bring light mountain snow showers to the forecast area today, becoming more widespread tonight,” the NWS said. “Slick travel conditions may develop in the high country this afternoon and evening, but accumulations are expected to be light, ranging from 1-4″ at elevations above 10,000 feet. With gusty winds expected, areas of blowing snow will be possible over the higher passes.”

Tonight expect a 20% chance of snow showers after 4 a.m. Mostly clear, with a low around 26. West northwest wind 6 to 9 mph becoming north northeast after midnight. Winds could gust as high as 15 mph.

Drying out and warming back up are forecast for the rest of the week as the state enters a period of very little weather expect sunny skies and mild temperatures.

Tuesday: A 20% chance of snow showers before 11 a.m. Mostly sunny, with a high near 40. Breezy, with a west northwest wind 8 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 24 mph.

Wednesday: Sunny, with a high near 52. South wind around 6 mph becoming calm in the afternoon.

Thursday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 62.

Friday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 63.
