Deer rescued after getting stuck in hammock
A deer recently got tangled in a backyard hammock in Jefferson County, and a Colorado Parks and Wildlife (CPW) officer had to tackle it to rescue it.
According to an X post from the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO), the deer had got itself tangled in the hammock in the Applewood community. A video of the incident shows the deer with its antlers stuck in the hammock, thrashing around trying to free itself. A CPW officer then tackles the deer to prevent it from hurting itself.
“So tackling deer isn’t our first choice, but we had to get hands-on to prevent the deer from hurting itself,” said CPW in a social media post.
The officer then held the deer still while deputies used knives to cut through the hammock ropes and free the animal. The JCSO said that “the deer didn’t completely understand we were there to help but was grateful to be set free.”
The JCSO used the incident to remind people to secure or store outdoor items like hammocks and sporting nets while not in use to help protect wildlife.
