Former Broncos cornerback K’Waun Williams expected to retire from NFL

Former Broncos cornerback K’Waun Williams is expected to retire from the NFL, his agent said Tuesday.
Williams, 33, spent 2014-23 in the NFL and was not on a roster in 2024. He spent 2022 with the Broncos, playing in 14 games with eight starts, before being on injured reserve all of 2023 due to an ankle injury.
Williams’ agent, Evan Krakower, told The Denver Gazette that Williams is expected to sign retirement papers in the next several weeks.
“He’s made good money in the league,’’ Krakower said. “He’s not a real big guy and he values his brain and he’s had concussions and surgeries. I’m very close to him personally and I understand his decision.”
The 5-foot-9, 185-pound Williams played for Cleveland (2014-15) and San Francisco (2016-21) before being Denver’s primary nickel back in 2022. He played in 104 NFL games, starting 54. He started in Super Bowl LIV for the 49ers in February 2020, having six tackles in a 31-20 loss to Kansas City.
Williams became a free agent last March but the Broncos did not look into re-signing him. Krakower said Williams has good memories of his time with the team.
“The first year he had in Denver, I thought he played pretty well,” Krakower said of 2022. “He loved Denver.”
Krakower said he heard from five or six teams inquiring about whether Williams wanted to play in 2024, but there did not turn out to be a good fit.
Krakower said Williams got his commercial real estate license last year and already is moving on another career in South Florida.
“He has a real estate corporation,’’ Krakower said. “I think he’ll transition well. He’s not sitting around. He’s immediately started to look into alternative careers.”
Fleming seeks to play in 2025
A source said Tuesday that tackle Cam Fleming, who spent the past four seasons with the Broncos, wants to continue playing in the NFL.
Fleming, 32, became a free agent last March after three Denver seasons and did not sign to be on an NFL 53-man roster. He signed with the Broncos’ practice squad on Oct. 8 and was elevated to play in one game in 2024.
The Broncos signed 13 of their 17 players off the practice squad Monday to future deals, but Fleming was not among them.
Nix finalist for rookie award
Broncos quarterback Bo Nix has been named one of six finalists for the 2024 Pepsi Zero Sugar NFL Rookie of the Year award.
Also named were Washington quarterback Jayden Daniels, Las Vegas tight end Brock Bowers, New York Giants wide receiver Malik Nabers, Jacksonville wide receiver Brian Thomas Jr. and Tampa Bay running back Bucky Irving. Daniels is considered the favorite.
Bears interview Shaw
The Chicago Bears on Tuesday interviewed Broncos senior personnel executive David Shaw for their open position of head coach.
Shaw, who joined the Broncos before last season, was Stanford’s head coach 2011-22.
