Warehouse fire injures Denver firefighter on Sunday morning

Flames were upgraded to a 2nd alarm fire near 40th and Walnut Streets in north Denver.

A Denver firefighter was injured and transported to the hospital in a vacant warehouse fire Sunday morning.

The fire, located near the intersection of 40th and Walnut streets in north Denver, was reported by the Denver Fire Department on social media platform X at 7:56 a.m.

At 8:45 a.m., fire officials upgraded the warehouse fire to a two-alarm fire because of the volume of flames and potential collapse hazard. The hazard forced crews out of the warehouse to fight the flames from its exterior.

At that time, officials said a firefighter sustained injuries and was transported to a hospital. The extent of injuries remain unknown.

As of 10:20 a.m., fire officials said the warehouse fire is under control. The fire, officials said, is a “repeat fire” at the vacant warehouse, adding the previous was a warming fire.
