Arrest made in Colorado case involving body of 19-year-old woman found in bike trailer
Last July, the body of a 19-year-old woman was found wrapped in blankets on a bike trailer in Boulder.
At the time, the case was labeled as a ‘suspicious death,’ with authorities finding the “unusual bike trailer” on Goss Street after neighbors made a report that it had been there for several days. Flies and maggots were present in the area of the trailer, according to a report from Denver7.

Once at the scene, law enforcement found what was described as a homemade bike trailer filled with various blankets and tarp-like material, with the woman’s body wrapped in those items.
The body was later identified as 19-year-old Zaria Hardee, who died of blunt force head trauma and potential asphyxia. Hardee was unhoused at the time of her death, with authorities noting that her killer may have been in some sort of a relationship with her.
After several months without an update, Boulder Detective Commander Brannon Winn took the stage during a Thursday press conference with the announcement that suspect Jimmy Leroy West, 52, had been identified as a suspect in Hardee’s death and was arrested in the city’s Civic Park on a murder charge.
The investigation into the case continues, with suspect West to be considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
