Thornton police find 2 bodies inside house fire
Both people were found with gunshot wounds and the fire was labeled suspicious
The Thornton Police Department began unraveling questions regarding a potential arson and double homicide Wednesday evening.
Officers responded to a house fire in the the 16300 block of Columbine Street around 11 p.m. Wednesday evening, according to a news release from the department. Officers found a 58-year-old woman and a 55-year-old man dead inside the home with apparent gunshot wounds.
The fire was contained around 12 a.m. Thursday.
Preliminary investigation shows the fire was set intentionally, but additional details regarding the shooting were not available Thursday, police said. No arrests have been made as of Thursday afternoon.
The Adams County Coroner’s Office will determine the official cause and manner of death and release the identities of the victims.
