Colorado fishing licenses for the year now on sale
It’s time for Colorado anglers to snag their licenses for the year.
Colorado Parks and Wildlife recently announced the sale that started this month; licenses are valid March 1 through March 31, 2026.
As always, anglers ages 18-64 must purchase a habitat stamp along with their license. Stamps are $12.47, with adult licenses running $42.91. A new senior license (ages 64 and older) costs $11.73. Kids 15 and younger fish for free.
More shuttle stops, increased prices coming to Pikes Peak Highway
Motorboats and sailboats also require an aquatic nuisance species stamp. Those are $25 for the year.
“By purchasing a fishing license, anglers play a crucial role in funding Colorado’s fishery management, supporting hatcheries and fish stocking operations,” read a recent news release by CPW.
Prices are outlined in the agency’s annual fishing brochure, which also details regulations, fisheries and species found across the state. CPW oversees more than 30 types of fish swimming across 6,000-plus miles of streams and 1,300 lakes and reservoirs. Some are stocked from 19 hatcheries around the state.
The state lists 11 rivers and three lakes as worthy of Gold Medal distinction. Last year, CPW promoted 53 “Colorado Quality Waters” — waters off the Gold Medal list but still “some of the most productive sport fisheries we have in the state,” CPW Angler Outreach Manager Dan Brauch said in a recent news release.
