Man struck, killed in Highlands Ranch crash along Kendrick Castillo Way

A 31-year-old man died when he was struck and killed in a crash along Kendrick Castillo Way in Highlands Ranch on Sunday afternoon, according to the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office.
The crash, which was called in at 2:54 p.m., closed southbound Kendrick Castillo Way at Mayberry Drive and northbound Kendrick Castillo Way at Bristle Pine Circle., according to the sheriff’s office.
The driver remained on-scene after the crash, according to the sheriff’s office.
Authorities request motorists to avoid roads in the area, which remained closed as of 5:15 p.m., sheriff’s office officials said.
A dog was also injured in the crash and taken to a local veterinarian, where its condition remains unknown, according to the sheriff’s office.
What led to the crash remains under investigation as of Sunday evening.
