Search for missing man narrowed to outdoor recreation area in Colorado
A search for missing man Sean Marquardt continues in Colorado after his vehicle was found in a popular outdoor recreation spot that’s close to I-70.
According to a recent update on the search from the Summit County Sheriff’s Office, Marqaurdt was last seen in Vail on May 9 with his vehicle found in the area of Officer’s Gulch the following day. In recent days, law enforcement has been focusing their search on this outdoor recreation area, which is found between Frisco and Copper Mountain near I-70.
The search has involved boots on the ground, the use of search dogs, and drone operators with a multi-agency large-scale search taking place on May 17 that involved more than 500 human-hours of effort. Marquardt remains missing at this time.
A public Facebook post made by Sean’s brother, Matthew, provides additional detail.
According to that post, Sean was last heard from on Wednesday evening, May 7. He reportedly left his phone and wallet at his condo, with missed call notifications on his found when it was located. Sean’s brother also reports that Sean was spotted on a traffic camera driving eastbound on I-70 out of Vail on Friday morning, May 9, with his vehicle later located at Officer’s Gulch. He has not been seen or heard from since.
