Aurora Police Department seeks information regarding assault suspect

Aurora police are seeking any information from the public about a suspect involved in an assault earlier this month.

Around 6:30 a.m. Thursday, May 8, police patrol officers received a report of a serious assault near Expo Park, 10955 E. Exposition Ave.

When they arrived at the scene, the woman told officers said she was walking on the High Line Canal Trail when an unknown man attacked her from behind.

The woman fought off the attacker and warned others in her proximity about the suspect.

The man then fled the scene and was last spotted heading north through Expo Park toward East Virginia Avenue.

Detectives have not yet been able to identify the subject and are turning to the public for help.

The suspect was last seen wearing white tennis shoes, green pants and a black jacket. He is described as being approximately 5 feet, 10 inches tall and weighing approximately 175 pounds, with dark shoulder-length hair. The suspect may have sustained facial injuries during the incident.

Police are asking anyone with information about the crime or the suspect to contact Metro Denver Crime Stoppers at 720-913-7867. Tipsters can remain anonymous and could be eligible for a reward of up to $2,000.

The investigation remains active and ongoing, according to police.
