Walkable cities in the United States offer travelers the opportunity to explore attractions, enjoy the local culture, stay healthy, save money, and reduce their carbon footprint, according to USA Today.
Voting is underway for USA Today’s 10 most walkable cities to visit in the U.S., and Denver is included on the list of nominees.
USA Today’s 10Best is a readers’ choice awards program that highlights the best in the country’s destinations, food and drink, hotels, and things to do. An expert panel selects the 20 nominees, and readers vote to determine the winners.
Readers can vote once per day until polls close on Monday, June 16 at noon ET. The 10 winners will be announced on Wednesday, June 25.
According to USA Today, Denver is a walkable city due to its variety of neighborhoods with attractions, shopping, and restaurants in close proximity. Some of the most pedestrian-friendly areas include downtown, Capitol Hill, Cheesman Park, and Platt Park.
The Mile High City is currently in 16th place.
