Man dies in Adams County house party shooting, suspect arrested

A suspect is in custody Sunday morning after a house party shooting resulted in the death of a man around midnight in Thornton.

Adams County deputies responded to 7611 Gilpin St. for a call of shots fired during a house party, Adams County Sheriff’s Office officials said on social media platform X.

Upon arrival, deputies found a man on the street. Medics later confirmed him dead, according to the sheriff’s office.

Deputies immediately collected information from witnesses and searched the area. After witness interviews and searching, a suspect was taken into custody.

Witnesses provided suspect information, and deputies quickly set up a perimeter and searched the area. Deputies and detectives continued investigating the scene, interviewing witnesses, and following up on leads.

At 10 a.m. Sunday, witnesses told investigators where the suspect lived. At the residence, the suspect was getting into his vehicle before deputies apprehended him without incident, a sheriff’s office spokesperson said.

The suspect was taken into custody after diligent work by deputies, detectives, and all personnel involved. We want to thank witnesses and others who provided vital information that led to the arrest.

The Adams County Sheriff’s Office plans to release the name, mugshot, and charges later on Sunday.
