Broncos waive Tanner McCalister to make room on roster for Mario Goodrich

Eagles Jets Football

The Broncos on Wednesday waived defensive back Tanner McCalister to make room on the roster for cornerback Mario Goodrich.

Goodrich had agreed to contract terms Tuesday and signed Wednesday. With the Broncos having been at the 90-man offseason roster limit, McCalister was then let go.

McCalister originally signed a futures contract with the Broncos in January 2024. He got into three games last season, playing only on special teams, while being mostly on the practice squad. He was on the active roster for three days in October before going back to the practice squad.

McCalister, who also had played in three games in 2023 as a rookie with the Cleveland Browns, then signed another futures deal with the Broncos last January.

Goodrich spent 2025 in the spring United Football League with the Birmingham (Ala.) Stallions after having been with the Philadelphia Eagles from 2022-23 and in the New York Giants’ training camp last summer. Goodrich was signed by the Eagles in 2022 after being undrafted out of Clemson and got into four games for them in 2023, with one start.

Training camp report dates set

The NFL announced Wednesday that Broncos rookies will report to training camp July 16 and veterans July 22.

Despite ongoing construction at Broncos Park, team officials have said that training camp will be held there and there will be practices open to fans.

The NFL also released a full schedule of the joint practices for all NFL teams. The Broncos’ joint practices will be Aug. 7 at San Francisco, two days before the teams open the preseason, and Aug. 14 at Broncos Park against Arizona, two days before the teams play in Denver’s only home preseason game.
