Two deadly stabbings took place only blocks away from each other along East Colfax Avenue in Aurora early Sunday morning, leaving authorities wondering whether the incidents are connected as police search for one or more suspects.
The first stabbing took place before 1:45 a.m., when officers were called to an unresponsive man on the sidewalk near the 1500 block of N. Moline St. near Colfax Avenue. The man suffered stab wounds and was pronounced dead on-scene, according to the Aurora Police Department.
Just a few blocks east, at around 6:30 a.m., police were called to a bus stop on Peoria Street just south of Colfax Avenue, where another man was found unresponsive with stab wounds, police said.
The man was also pronounced dead on-scene.
Police haven’t provided any further information as authorities continue to investigate both stabbings.
“Investigators are working hard to determine if there’s any connections,” an Aurora police spokesperson told The Denver Gazette.
Authorities ask anyone with information to call Metro Denver Crime Stoppers at 720-913-7867.
