Where the good news shines

Colorado golf’s incoming freshman Tyler Long wrapped up a strong June with a big week.

The Evergreen High School graduate and 3A state champion won one of most prestigious American Junior Golf Association (AGJA) events Friday, capturing the RLX Ralph Lauren Junior Match Play Classic at Black Course at Bethpage State Park in Farmingdale, N.Y.

Long won the title at the No. 19 seed with a 4 & 2 victory over 16-year-old Guiseppe Puebla of Royal Palm Beach, Fla.

The week before Bethpage, he tied for fifth in the Western Junior at The Harvester Club in Rhodes, Iowa on June 19. Earlier in the month he tied for 14th in The Wyndham Clark presented by the Colorado Golf Association at the Walnut Creek Golf Reserve in Westminster.
