Police seeking identity of woman who broke in to Centennial Animal Services

Arapahoe County Sheriff’s Office investigators are seeking public help in identifying a woman who tried to break in to the Centennial Animal Services in late June.

The woman, described as White, 25-35 years old with dark blond hair, wearing a pink shirt, black pants and sunglasses, also had a light-colored lab with her on a leash, according to a news release. She faces charges of felony criminal mischief and criminal trespass.

Security video footage shows the woman drove up to the building at 7272 S. Eagle St. in Centennial around 7 p.m. on Friday, June 27, in a silver or gray four-door sedan, police said in the release. She then walked up to the locked front door with her dog and tried to open it.

As she found the door locked, she began knocking loudly and pacing back and forth, police said. This continued for nearly 30 minutes, with her becoming more irritated and knocking louder.

Then, she grabbed a tire iron from her trunk and tried to pry the door open, albeit unsuccessfully, authorities said. She then hit the door with the iron until it shattered — causing $8,000-$10,000 in damage in the process — but still could not get past the building’s entrance — which included a second set of locked doors.

Nearly 40 minutes after arriving, she got into her car and drove away with her dog, police said.

If anyone recognizes the woman or has any information about the incident, they are asked to contact the Arapahoe County Sheriff’s Office Investigation Tip Line at 720-874-8477.
