Avalanche sign Manson to two-year contract extension
Josh Manson is sticking around.
The Avalanche on Thursday said they signed Manson, a 33-year-old defenseman, to a two-year contract extension that keeps him with the club through the 2027-28 season.
Injuries limited Manson to 48 games last season. He had 15 points and averaged just over 18 minutes of ice time per game. He scored in the final two games of a playoff-series defeat to the Dallas Stars.
“Josh has been an important member of our blue line since joining the team during the 2022 stretch run,” general manager Chris MacFarland said. “He is a steady and tough defender who chips in on the offensive side at key times. He is also a veteran leader in our dressing room, and we are excited to have him under contract for another three seasons.”
Manson helped the Avs to the 2022 Stanley Cup title, totaling playoff career-highs in goals (three) and assists (five). Colorado acquired Manson at the 2022 trade deadline. He shows 57 points across 173 games with the team.
